About Us - Our Model
Director of Operations:
The Glimmer team is comprised of really talented people who are exceptional at what they do. My role is to make sure that they have everything they need to shine (glimmer) as brightly as possible. If Brian (our CEO) is our Chief Dot Connector, then my responsibility is to reduce the space between the dots and make the connections as effective and efficient as possible.
Before joining Glimmer in February 2009, I was Director of Corporate Development at Affiniscape, a Software As A Service provider in the web content management market. Previously, I was a vice president in investment banking at Bear Stearns where I spent eight years. This gave me a foundation in finance that has served me very well.
When not at work, most of my time is spent with my three beautiful daughters, Madeleine (11), Caroline (10) and Tori (7). They keep me young by teaching me new hip-hop moves and the words to new songs on the radio. I enjoy helping them with their homework, talking them through the dramas of pre-teen girls and hopefully teaching them the skills they need in life: kindness, compassion and cooking (while singing and dancing). We also love to ride bikes and play tennis. I love to SCUBA, read biographies and someday I want to go sky-diving.
What I’ve come to understand is that there is no ‘us’ or ‘them’. We really are all the same and only by the chance of birth am I here while they are in Ethiopia. The mothers of Ethiopia have the same hopes and dreams for their children as do I for mine. I have been blessed in my life and have achieved much. Now it’s my turn to give more than I take and, hopefully, in the process, teach my girls the same lesson… to be grateful for the opportunities they have and be passionate about helping those less fortunate. Working at Glimmer allows me to give back and teach them by example.
