About Us - Our Model

Co-Chair:
My role primarily involves strategic planning and operational review. That is, I listen to the team, watch for trends outside of Glimmer, ask lots of questions and suggest various ideas. I am directly engaged in finance and investments, donor relations, marketing, media and microfinance. I enjoy the creative, forward looking and innovative side of Glimmer as well as the presentations I do to students at various universities.
Originally from Ireland, I moved to London in 1979 and worked for several multi-national corporations. I joined my first start-up Expert Information Systems in 1984 and formed Financia in 1988. In 1990, Financia was sold to and merged with Frontier Financial of Houston which is when I moved with my family to the United States. In 1995, we moved to Austin and I formed CyBerCorp, an online trading firm that sold five years later to Charles Schwab.
In 2001, I joined my wife Donna who had already started working on A Glimmer of Hope. We started A Glimmer of Hope to help relieve some of the pain on the planet and because we believed there had to be a better way of implementing international aid and development. To have been blessed with success in business was exciting but to be able to use those skills to help make a real difference in the lives of so many is fulfilling and purposeful.
