About Us - Our Model

Director of Communications:
As a founding employee of A Glimmer of Hope, I’ve spun many plates during my time with the foundation including donor relations, grant writing, PR, marketing, etc. To date, I’ve made six trips to Ethiopia to document A Glimmer of Hope’s efforts there and to deepen my understanding of the challenges faced its rural people.
Originally from New Zealand, I started out my professional life as a cub reporter on a small daily paper hammering out stories on an old manual Imperial typewriter that could punch holes through three layers of copy paper. I went on to work as a freelance writer for The Times (London) before making the jump to television and the newsroom at Television New Zealand. I’ve been in Austin, Texas since 1998 and am married with two young children.
As a youngster, my dream was always to be a war correspondent and, in a way, A Glimmer of Hope is allowing me to live that dream by giving me an opportunity to report on the Global War on Poverty from the Ethiopian front lines.
