Director of Marketing:
My first opportunity to experience Africa came in 2002 while I was vacationing in the Canary Islands. I flew to Laâyoune for a safari through the Western Sahara and Morocco, guided by people who drilled water wells for the United Nations. Inspired by the experience, I returned home eager to develop my career in ways that would one day lead me to this job: Director of Marketing for A Glimmer of Hope. At the time of my trip, I was Director of Business Development for web content management company, 13 Colonies Software.
I reached out to friends and found my way to El Buen Samaritano, a non-profit organization with a mission to move Hispanic immigrants from subsistence to self-sufficiency. The cause resonated with me. As a single mom (now working two jobs), I had a wonderful woman from Monterray, Mexico living with me and helping me raise my two daughters. A Glimmer of Hope provided El Buen with a grant for the work we were doing here in Austin. It gave me the chance to experience first-hand the tremendous value Donna and Philip Berber's foundation provides to the organizations they support.
After 13 Colonies was acquired by Interwoven (now part of global infrastructure software leader, Autonomy) and we finished the 7.3 million dollar capital campaign at El Buen, I led the marketing organizations for two more technology companies here in Austin. Along the way I helped start the Austin chapter of Entrepreneurs Organization and received my MBA from UT. I love spending time with my family and being outdoors wakeboarding, playing tennis and running or walking with my friends. I am inspired to be a part of the tremendous team at A Glimmer of Hope. Together we are improving lives for some of the poorest people on Earth.
