About Us - Our Model

Director of Social Investment:
My responsibilities include developing donor partnerships, cultivating major gifts, providing donors with feedback about the status of their projects and organizing Seeing is Believing trips to Ethiopia. These trips offer donors the opportunity to experience first-hand the transformational impact of their social investments.
Before joining the Glimmer Team in May of 2007, I enjoyed a 16-year career in the junior tennis academy business that included founding the St. Stephen's Tennis Academy and co-founding the Austin Tennis Academy. My work with young people also included teaching 8th grade World History for four years at the Greenhill School in Dallas after graduating from Davidson College in 1986. My interest in Africa stems from growing up in countries such as Liberia, the Sudan, South Africa and Nigeria as my father worked his way around the world as an international banker.
It is a joy to spend my time at work serving the extreme poor of rural Ethiopia who need our help to improve the quality of their lives. My passion is fueled each time I am given the opportunity to visit schools, health posts and water projects in the field that have been implemented by A Glimmer of Hope's local NGO partners on the ground. Meeting the beneficiaries living in these remote, rural communities and experiencing the meaningful difference these basic humanitarian services make in their lives inspires me to serve as a messenger for our voiceless brothers and sisters. I also feel blessed that my son and daughter are learning the importance of giving back and helping those in need as a result of being exposed to my work at A Glimmer of Hope.
