Chief Executive Officer:
I joined A Glimmer of Hope Foundation in May 2008. Officially, I’m the CEO but I prefer the title Chief Dot Connector. It is my responsibly to lead the strategy, growth and execution for our operations in the US and Ethiopia. I enjoy problem solving and extending my dot connecting to include the ways that different people and organizations can get involved and contribute in a meaningful way.
Before joining A Glimmer of Hope, I was a serial entrepreneur having founded and led software companies for 20 years. Most recently, I was CEO and Chairman of Affiniscape, a Software As A Service provider in the web content management market. Before Affiniscape, I was a partner with Texas Edge, an angel investment and advisory firm formed to invest in companies and mentor them in developing their strategies and business models, raising capital and successfully managing growth. In 1998, I founded Lombardi Software which was born from the desire to address the inefficiencies in enterprise business processes and collaboration. To this day, Lombardi Software is one of the market leaders in the $6 billion business process management market.
I hail from Sydney, Australia (Manly Beach, to be specific) and now live in Austin with my wife Karen and our two children – Ellie (12) and Ethan (9). While my heart is still in Sydney (world’s best city IMHO), I feel very fortunate to live in another of the best cities in the world. Family time is precious to me. Our favorite activity is our almost daily swim time where I compete with Ethan to be the pool clown. When time permits I love to play golf and tennis.
It is so easy in the western world to get caught up in the poverty mentality and yet we have so much abundance while others in the developing world are really living in extreme poverty. I have always felt that I am on this earth to serve. I feel like everything I have learned to date has been in preparation for this role. The foundation’s purpose is to offer hope, help and dignity to those who suffer unnecessarily from the injustice of poverty. I am still amazed that I get to be part of this every day. It is such a blessing to be a part of this amazing organization and I am thankful everyday for the opportunity to serve in such an effective and tangible way with a team of amazing people and partners.
