Staff Accountant

A Glimmer of Hope Foundation Staff Accountant


This is a full-time accounting position working jointly with the Controller and CFO supporting the accounting operations of Glimmer as well as the CEO’s personal finances. Glimmer staff work in a very collaborative manner and this position will provide accounting support to various departments within the organization. The most successful candidate will have a ‘customer service’ attitude based on providing relevant and timely information to individuals to best fulfill the mission of the organization.

In addition to the responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will assist with special projects that will improve organizational efficiency and further establish best practices within the organization.  Some administrative responsibilities involved.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Organizational Accounting:
    • Process cash receipts and disbursements
    • Prepare monthly account reconciliations
    • Prepare financial reports required for annual audit and work directly with audit firm staff to provide requested documentation for the annual audit
    • Assist with preparation of reports needed to file tax returns and state annual reports
    • Maintain accounting files and reporting
    • Process reports to fulfill PATRIOT Act compliance
    • Assist with preparation and compilation of monthly financial reporting package
    • Track and report on donors requiring Expenditure responsibility reporting
    • Assist with preparation of donor thank you letters
    • Research and write reports on accounting and finance topics
    • Internal review of program budgets
    • CEO Accounting:
      • Process all cash receipts and disbursements for CEO and run weekly disbursement reports
      • Allocate and track expense accounts for CEO’s personal staff pertaining to daily transactions
      • Prepare monthly account reconciliations
      • Assemble and file documentation for tax returns


The successful candidate will be outgoing and highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also having a compassionate and kind spirit. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent work experience in an accounting capacity required.

  • At least 5 years of experience working in an accounting role with a strong financial background; knowledge of state annual reporting a plus
  • Able to self-manage multiple priorities and advance multiple projects without compromising accuracy
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Analytical and results oriented
  • Highly skilled in Excel with proficiency with all other Microsoft Office products
  • Experience in Quickbooks
  • Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management tools, like Netsuite or Salesforce is helpful
  • Excellent communication skills-written and verbal
  • Comfortable in a dynamic, team environment
  • Innovative problem solver, anticipates needs of the team and brings ideas for positive change
  • Self-starter, proactive, strong initiative
  • Motivated by the thought of helping an outstanding International Development organization
