Digital Communications & Partner Relations Manager
As communications and partner relations manager, I make sure Glimmer's donors are inspired by and connected to the life-changing work they are supporting in Ethiopia. I am thrilled to be part of such a bright, warm-hearted and talented group of individuals who are committed to helping lift communities out of extreme poverty in one of the poorest countries on the planet.
Before joining Glimmer, I worked for Sea Change Strategies as their digital fundraising and communications consultant. Sea Change is a firm dedicated to providing communications strategy and audience research exclusively to non-profits; my clients there included national organizations focused on international relief, human rights and the environment. Prior to that, I was as the associate publisher at the nonprofit independent news website AlterNet.org. There I oversaw all aspects of fundraising, communications and advertising. My professional experience combined with time spent living abroad in rural Southeast Asia has profoundly shaped my worldview and solidified my commitment to helping alleviate global poverty and helping provide hope to those suffering from its effects.
I grew up in Cape Cod, Mass., and earned my degree at Cornell University. In addition to my amazing husband and son, things that make me rather happy include autumn in New England, the night sky, late afternoon light and a perfect avocado. I am passionate about sustainable agriculture and farming and recently completed an 80-hour course to earn my Permaculture Design Certificate. On any given weekend, you might find me at the farmer's market, working on a project in my yard, or making dinner plans with friends at one of Austin's many excellent dining establishments.
We don't set out to save the world; we set out to wonder how other people are doing and to reflect on how our actions affect other people's hearts.Pema Chödrön
