Director of Social Investment
Eric Schmidhauser has been motivated throughout his life by a desire to serve, stemming in large part from growing up in countries across Africa, including Liberia, Sudan, South Africa, and Nigeria. Eric initially worked on the fundraising team at A Glimmer of Hope from 2007-2012 and returned to Glimmer in July of 2016 after a brief stint in the Giving Department of Toms Shoes in California followed by a return to Austin to help oversee the construction of a permanent home for the College Preparatory school at the highly reputable Austin Tennis Academy, which he co-founded in 2003.
Eric completed his education at Davidson College with a degree in History and went on to found the St. Stephen’s Tennis Academy in 1993. In his role at Glimmer, Eric cultivates partnerships with key donors, which often blossom into lasting relationships revolving around shared engagement that leads to impactful social investments. Eric derives great fulfillment from sharing with donors the transformation that Glimmer’s team on the ground and implementing partners make possible in the water, health, education, and microfinance sectors.
Eric works with a contagious passion, generosity of spirit, and with the conviction of a true servant of those in need.
