With excitement and gratitude I joined the Glimmer family in February of 2013. I met the Glimmer leadership team in Austin in the spring of 2012 through a team-building workshop my consulting firm provided. Our work in Austin was a success, which led to my trip to Ethiopia to conduct workshops with the Addis team. It was not long after that the need to fill my current role came up. Without any hesitation, I thought to myself, “I can do that.” Three weeks later, Glimmer’s CEO called me to inquire if I was interested in joining the team. Here I am.
My role at Glimmer focuses on connecting people with the life-changing work that we do in rural Ethiopia. A Glimmer of Hope is a vehicle for those who want to make a tangible difference through a trustworthy organization that is committed to transparency and delivering a 100% of donor funds to where they are needed most. A role that brings me great joy is organizing Glimmer’s annual trip that provides a life-changing opportunity for donors who have been invited by our CEO to witness firsthand the impact of Glimmer’s work in the field. Another area I focus on is helping to empower donors to mobilize their friends, family and contacts by facilitating their online campaigns.
I have been able to further develop my passion for photography during my six trips to Ethiopia. The magnificent landscape and the striking beauty of the people never cease to inspire me. It gives me an opportunity to share rural Ethiopia and the impact of Glimmer’s work with our supporters.
One's life has value so long as one attributes value to the life of others, by means of love, friendship, indignation and compassion.Simone de Beauvoir
