Camila Olmedo Mendez

Digital Projects Coordinator

As the digital projects coordinator, I work closely with Glimmer’s programs and communications teams. I help manage and execute data projects that improve the internal workflow at Glimmer and improve external experiences for our supporters. The ‘Glimmer energy’ at the office motivates me daily. I work with a collaborative and energetic team that takes on rural development in a sustainable way to achieve Glimmer’s mission to eliminate extreme poverty in Ethiopia.

I am a recent graduate of University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in economics with a strong interest in sustainable development and social entrepreneurship. During the summer of 2015, I was honored to intern for Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where I learned about microfinance and social business. I also had the opportunity to work as a research associate in a partnership with UT Austin and Universidad Albert Einstein, where I learned participatory action research methods to engage community members for ownership and long-term impact.

I was born and raised in Cochabamba, Bolivia, and I moved to Austin to pursue my higher education in 2012. During my time at UT Austin, I co-founded a student organization called Start Americas Together, dedicated to volunteering and working on social and environmental projects in Latin America. I am very passionate about water issues and women rights, which led me to develop an ongoing water project in my hometown.
